Whether it is the Milwaukee shooting this past week or the 5- 10 churches who may be affected by a fire incident this month nationwide, no Christian organization or church is immune from a potential incident that has never occurred before.

Having good strong relationships with your local law enforcement is key to a quick effective preparedness plan and response.

ReadyCity and ReadyChurch Security officers will find these few tips helpful with building relationships with local law enforcement.

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?  1 John 3:17

It wasn’t that long ago that I was in a business management class at a small college in San Diego.  One of the assignments for the semester was a group project. The instructions were to work in a team of 5 people and create a set of instructions that would show how to build a small model boat.  We were to design the boat, provide a blueprint, and the build the model boat to show and demonstrate our product.   I sat down with my group of motivated leaders - poised and ready give all they had to this project.  However, what seemed such a simple project, in short order, turned into a complicated nightmare that kept me awake until 4am in the morning.  In the first hour of our planning time came 5 different opinions on the grandeur of how this small model boat should look.   Suddenly a small model boat turned into a world-class yacht.  A simple plan would yield a simple set of instructions, but several members were on the fast track to show off their artistic skills rather than focusing on the requirements of the assignment. I was hindered from accomplishing the assignment’s goals, and my frustration grew. My teammate’s egos were getting in the way because the sky was the limit.  They wanted to build the coolest model boat ever, but they were missing the point of the assignment.

On Wednesday Department of Homeland Security and the FBI issued a bulletin to DHS partners across the nation that while there is no specific threat to the U.S. known at this time, they remain concerned “lone wolf” terrorists could use the date to avenge the death of former Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

In open source websites terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab in Somalia, Northern Africa’s Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, and the Pakistani Taliban have called for revenge against the United States for killing bin Laden during the May 1, 2011, raid on his hideout in Pakistan. Websites indicate Al Qaeda or its affiliates would view an attack ‘on this anniversary as a symbolic victory,’ especially in the wake of losses suffered by Al Qaeda through U. S. drone attacks and other efforts overseas.

This comes as a reminder to report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement. It is a call for vigilance and community responsiveness.

Sometimes it is hard to know where to start when you want to start blogging. If you are new to the site, you may wonder what a response group is and how to start one.

Well, I'm glad you asked!
