Lets Build A Wall For the Lord

The Lord spoke to Ezekiel and said “Again the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, say to the land, ‘You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’  There is a conspiracy of her princes within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her.  Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.  Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain.  Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken. The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice. “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.” (Ezekiel 22:23-31 NIV)

In America, and the world, the land has not been cleansed and been made righteous. Only through holy obedience to God can the land be restored. Many leaders, in both the U.S. and internationally are corrupt, taking from the people. In Egypt, and other countries how many widows are created with the killing of innocent people? How many children and woman have died?

How many, claiming to represent God rob, kill and oppress worldwide?

In Ezekiel’s day, the Lord found no one who would stand in the gap. The result was disaster to Israel, and the people.

Today, as CEN are we being called to stand in the Gap?

What steps can we take to help build up the wall that is broken down?

However, we know at the same time the Lord is calling “Is there one person ready to stand in the gap?” In the time of Elijah, wickedness was throughout the land, and the nation was under evil leadership.  We know Elijah was not alone, as the Lord said, “Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel--all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him." (1 Kings 19:18 NIV)

Evil can, and must be resisted. As we offer ourselves to build up the wall, and stand in the gap as CEN, we have an opportunity to provide hope. If one could have been found to stand in the gap in the time of Ezekiel, the people could have been saved. If we stand, we can, with the Lords help, save others.  As Paul wrote, “…by all possible means I might save some…” ( 1 Corinthians 9:22 NIV).

Are we willing to follow Paul’s example?

What piece of the wall are you willing to build?
