Hope is the state, which promotes the belief in a good outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope is the "feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best" or the act of "looking forward to something with desire and reasonable confidence" or "feeling that something desired may happen".

Other definitions are "to cherish a desire with anticipation"; "to desire with expectation of obtainment"; or "to expect with confidence".  In the English language the word can be used as either a noun or a verb, although hope as a concept has a similar meaning in either use.

“O Lord, You alone are my hope.” Psalm 71:5

“And if we have hope for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world.” I Corinthians 15: 19

Hope and faith go hand in hand for the one who puts their trust in Jesus Christ.

“What is faith?  It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.

It is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1

The hope to hang onto in the darkest days will be filled by the assurance that Jesus Christ is Lord.  His Father, God, has provided the Holy Spirit to fill the empty spaces left by loss.  God will always make a way when life is empty and loss is great.

This video by Matt Redman, My Hope,  is meant to remind us one again, our hope is built on the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ.

  • Pray for those who are suffering great lose from the recent floods and tornadoes that have left them feeling hopeless and devastated.
  • Care for them by asking how you can support them through your giving to an organization that will share the everlasting hope of Jesus Christ.
  • Share with others the opportunities that God is gives you during the coming day as you pray for and care for others.
  • Glory and honor to God for He alone is able to provide lasting hope.
