Louisiana Association of Christian Counselors

The LAACC Board along with faithful friend and mentor, Dr. Kelly Barnett, have spent many hours planning and praying about the development of a professional fellowship of Christian counselors over the past four years. These planning meetings resulted in the LAACC charter being officially recognized by the State of Louisiana in May of 2007. As we have all benefited personally and professionally as charter members of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), we recognized the need to have a state organization to better meet the needs of professionals like us. Through the course of these developmental meetings, we created a structure for the LAACC to provide the opportunity for counselors throughout the state to meet, plan, fellowship, and network together. Our meetings also resulted in supportive, and caring friendships which we want to see expand to include many others. As professionals in a very tough field, we spend a great deal of time dealing with private, confidential issues. The information that is entrusted to us by our clients is always restricted by the boundaries of strict confidentiality. The nature of our profession can create an atmosphere that isolates us from even those in our field. One purpose of LAACC is to build a supportive network of professional friends who share in this common work of providing healthy and therapeutic spiritual care through our mental health training.
