12 Drummers Drumming

Drummers Drumming

In keeping with our 12 Days of Christmas “study” – today’s focus is on Twelve Drummers Drumming. The corresponding tenet of the Christian Faith is the Twelve Points in the Apostle’s Creed. Here is what the creed says…

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

12 Days of Christmas

One of my favorite things about Christmas is the traditions that are developed. These traditions vary family to family, culture to culture, and sometimes even year to year…but they are there, to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas and to celebrate the heart behind Christmas, love and those that we love.

Every Christmas before we open Christmas presents, we each take a turn to share what we are most thankful for that year. We then read the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth and then we celebrate his goodness and love in our lives by exchanging gifts with our family and loved ones.

Active Shooter Preparedness

This morning, October 24, 2012, there was another single shooter incident; this time at World Changers Church in Georgia. Early reports confirm that one person (an employee of the church) was shot and killed. Police are still looking for the suspect.

We strongly encourage all churches and houses of worship to consider their course of action, and create an emergency response plan for how to handle active shooter situations in their places of worship.

October 18, 2012 is the nationwide Great ShakeOut earthquake drill. This event, sponsored by FEMA, encourages people to know what to do in order to prepare for earthquakes.

Tomorrow, join more than 13 million people nationwide in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill. Register here!

"Earthquakes occur all year long across our country – in a lot of places you wouldn’t expect," said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. "For the Great ShakeOut, we’re asking everyone to take just a minute out of your day to drop, cover and hold on, and practice what you would do during an actual earthquake."

Today, ReadyDearborn is being activate and prepared for a planned protest this afternoon in Dearborn, MI. We are asking that everyone be praying for the scheduled event. We ask that you keep in prayer:

·         First Responders as they respond  and prepare for potential events

·         Local Faith-Based Leaders who are mitigating the events

World Changed Today for Christians

In an unprecedented and well-organized attack on over 21 U.S. and German embassies this week the loss of security and sovereignty represented by each embassy is a “world changing” event for Christians, churches, and missionaries around the globe. These events beg the questions: If the U.S. cannot or will not defend embassies, what will be defended? If the embassy staff, in Libya or elsewhere, is not defended, what will the aid be to any U.S. citizen traveling in a country who may be at risk? Apart from domestic security in the U.S. what does this mean for Christians, churches and missionaries around the globe?
