Prayer Impacts Church Response & Recovery

Posted by CEN in Untagged

A Ready Church knows that prayer is an essential response and recovery tool.

The Fargo, North Dakota  area churches have  sheltered their displaced families, provided food, sandbagged, conducted 24-hour dike and pump watches, assisted neighbors, shared the gospel, cared for children out of school  for at least 2 weeks...all while anticipating massive clean-up efforts in the days and weeks  following.   Though many response and recovery groups arrived  in Fargo, the Christian citizens themselves did a mighty work with God's help, many as part of their church's disaster response efforts.

The Bible says a lot about ways God works in and through disasters.   Here's just one instance where many lessons come forth.

Economic Earthquake!

Posted by CEN in Untagged

America is in the grip of major economic upheaval.   Unemployment is rising; some of the largest and more prestigious financial companies suddenly are bankrupt; some investors cannot get money out of investment accounts.   In one word, "fear" is gripping many in our nation -  fear of a financial meltdown.   Some are turning to the government to fix the problem; others are looking at their own wisdom;  while others choose to deny that any storm raging will strike them.

Stuck on a Rooftop - Now What?

Posted by CEN in Untagged

To the extent Hurricane Ike has damaged and shaken the nation, Christian Emergency Network (CEN) asks Christians to pray for the massive recovery efforts in place for the next many months.

Mary Marr, CEN  Founder and President  states, “Recovery efforts include the emotional side of things, too. With over 2,000 people having to be rescued, missing persons still being searched for, and hearing of people calling in to radio stations from their rooftops to be rescued in the aftermath of Ike, a truth surfaced. Many made the wrong choice of not evacuating. They messed up. They didn't heed their local instructions.

Many, many of Christian Emergency Network's co-laborers in the gospel respond to crisis events with prayer-care-share actions.   By being "aware," "ready," and also "there" in any way possible (even by praying from afar)  at these critical times, these Christian  organizations and churches help carry the gospel message to those affected by life's storms, especially natural disasters.

This hurricane season, preceded by severe Midwest summer storms and flooding, and West Coast fires, is  bringing great catastrophies to many communitiee in the way of wind damage, flooding, power outages, evacuations, and more.

Will you pray for these responding ministries with us?   Pray for personnel, perseverence, funding, safety, and that God would use them to impact these communities for Christ.   The love of God, experienced by the power of God's Word,  prayer, assistance and follow-up by Christians is powerful.

Read brief remarks/updates from  these ministries who are "there" for others right now.   Register your church at Ready Church to be connected with an organization that can use your church help in responding to Ike.. Check back often to pray for and assist the ongoing list of these service-with-a-purpose efforts going forth in the name of Jesus Christ.   Many church denominations have disaster response efforts -- learn how yours respond.   We'll post ministries and denominations as they become available to us.
