Sanitize The Office

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

The cold and flu season is ramping up. One of the easiest and least costly weapons to fight the spread of germs and illness is the use of hand sanitizers.

Put one by each sink in the rest room, and attach one or more by doorways as people enter and exit your establishment.

Samuel’s Warning

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

The people of Israel were stressed and cried out to Samuel for help. Scripture provides a picture of the moment in Samuel 12:19-25 NIV:

The people all said to Samuel, “Pray to the Lord your God for your servants so that we will not die, for we have added to all our other sins the evil of asking for a king.”

“Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own.  As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will perish.”

Forced Migrations

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

Migrations have been a major part of world history, some migrations are a result of an effort to seek a brighter future, like the western migrations in the American and Canadian west. Others are the result of punishment, prisons being taken to Georgia and Australia for crimes committed.  The Bible also shows us many migrations, large and small, directed by the Lord.

The first was Cain being forced away from the family after murdering Able. Abraham, Joseph, Mosses and Joshua all led migrations. Some migrations were for a far better opportunity.  For example Pharaoh, “ …made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.” (Exodus 1:14) From slavery to the land of milk and honey was the promise. Abraham moved based on God’s promise,“…for I have made you a father of many nations.” (Genesis 17:5)

Other time migrations happened because of disobedience. The Lord spoke to Jeremiah and said, “For thus says the LORD, “Behold, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land At this time, And will cause them distress, That they may be found.” (Jeremiah 10:18)

False Teachers Led To Disastor

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

The book, The Harbinger  by Jonathan Cahn provided a fictional look at the reality of a nation turning it’s back on the Lord. The consequences were stunning. Is this real?

A reading of 2 Peter 2:1-9 provides a Biblical insight:

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

After Oklahoma Tornadoes, Looters Show up

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

Looting after a major disaster is common. Police and at times National Guard troops patrol streets in an effort to prevent such looting. In the past most looting occurred by locals looking for targets of opportunity. Now looters have come from as far as the East coast in an effort to steal.

Strength In Time Of Trouble

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

King Solomon Wrote, “If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength! Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done? (Proverbs 24:10-12 NIV)
